Lacrosse will be offered at Live Oak as winter sport, introduced
to community of Morgan Hill
The Santa Clara University men’s lacrosse team will be holding an exhibition game and clinic in Morgan Hill on Saturday.
The event will be at the Live Oak soccer field and is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
“We’re introducing lacrosse to Morgan Hill,” said Santa Clara Lacrosse Assistant Coach Dave Masuda, who is a 1997 Live Oak graduate. “It’s never been played here before.”
Masuda said the purpose of the clinic and exhibition is to get high school students interested in the sport.
Approximately 100 high school students will be at the event to compete in the exhibition, Masuda said.
Although Live Oak has already approved both a boys and girls lacrosse team, Masuda said he would like to continue to raise interest in the sport locally.
The new Live Oak teams are scheduled to start competition in January and will compete in the CIF league, which stretches from the San Francisco area to Carmel.
SCU will have five coaches at the clinic that will answer questions as well as show students the ins and outs of lacrosse.
