Monterey Mushrooms scholarships
Martha DeReza has been awarded with a renewed scholarship of $1,250. Carlos Hernandez and Fernando Serrato are being honored with a scholarship of $3,300. Elizabeth Chavez and Lupe Ramirez have been given new scholarships of $2,000. David Davalos is being awarded with a $700 scholarship from Monterey Mushrooms. All applicants are residents of Morgan Hill and were evaluated on academic achievement, financial need and future potential.
Play director
Mark Sitko is being honored for his role as director for the play “Waiting for Godot,” by Samuel Beckett, which is playing in Los Angeles this month. Mark is a 1996 graduate of Live Oak High School, 2000 graduate of Cal Poly with a B.A. in Theater Arts, and CalPoly Fine Arts Student of the Year in 2000.
Dean’s list
Jennifer Saito of Morgan Hill, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2003 semester at The Johns Hopkins University. To be selected for this honor, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 higher on a 4.0 scale. Jennifer Saito is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Yukihiro Saito and attended Leland High School in San Jose. Jennifer Saito, who is majoring in international studies, is expected to graduate in May 2005.
