Guests run away after throwing rocks at police, cursing
Morgan Hill – Several incidents involving alcohol and teenagers kept Morgan Hill police officers busy last weekend.

On Friday, Sept. 8, a 16-year-old girl, who was hosting a party, was the only one cited and released after her guests ran away.

According to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. Joe Sampson, officers responded to a call about a large party with possibly 60 to 80 teenagers on Llagas Avenue. Sampson said when Cpl. Shane Palsgrove arrived at the residence at approximately 10:20pm, he saw the teens running away.

“His car was pelted with bottles and rocks, the kids were yelling profanities” Sampson said.

Many of the teens are known gang types, he added.

The girl was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol. Her grandfather was at the residence, Sampson said, but was reportedly sleeping and said he didn’t know about the party.

Durng the evening of Sept. 9, a 17-year-old male was arrested after he nearly had a head-on collision with Palsgrove.

Sampson said the teen was southbound on Hale Avenue, traveling approximately 50 mph when he made a right turn onto Wright Avenue into Palsgrove’s path. Palsgrove managed to steer around the teen’s car, avoiding the crash, but the teen crashed into the curb at Crest Avenue and Wright Avenue.

Palsgrove found a beer can on the console of the car, Sampson said.

The teenager, who Sampson said was “uncooperative,” was arrested and taken to the police station on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence, allegedly driving on a suspended license and reckless driving.

He was later released to his mother.

Officers also arrested two parole violators. Bruce Taylor, 45, and Jerry Buckland, 41, were arrested for allegedly violating their parole.
