Dear Editor,
When I was a young man, I would welcome Memorial Day as another holiday, but as I grew older and received my greetings: “You have been selected, etc., etc.,” back in 1942, I then realized I might be one of the casualties. By that I mean a fallen hero or a person with a spring for a body park, as a memorial, for my lost cause, and since wars have been going on since the first Battle of Actium in 41 B. C., it’s about time for someone that owns that world to claim it before any more Memorials are scheduled. What is needed is a memorial to the living not a memorial to the dead in our foreseeable future.
