Live Oak’s Isaiah Locsin works to hold down Overfelt’s Alexis Arciga during their 113-pound Central Coast Section finals match Saturday at Independence High School in San Jose.

Live Oak’s standout sophomore Isaiah Locsin locked down a second consecutive section title, pinning Alexis Arciga of Overfelt in the 113-pound final at the Central Coast Section Championships on Saturday night in San Jose.

Locsin, the tournament favorite and No. 1-seed, who is also ranked No. 2 in the state, was relentless in breaking down Arciga – an opponent he also beat at the Blossom Valley Athletic League Tournament last weekend. He led comfortably before sealing the match by fall in the third period.

Locsin is a defending state runner-up placer and has blazed through the season so far, collecting a 46-0 record in the process. His state title bid begins Friday in Bakersfield.

Jonathan Robles-Rials (106 pounds) was one victory shy of qualifying for next weekend’s state meet and finished fourth overall. Top-three placers in each weight class earned spots.

Robles-Rials went 3-0 on Day 1 Friday to advance into the semifinals. However, the freshman lost to eventual champion Jimmie Lopez of Christopher High in the semifinals to drop into the consolation bracket. After a victory against Gabriel Espino of North Salinas in overtime, Jesse Vasquez of Gilroy High denied Robles-Rials a state berth in the consolation final.

Senior Tyler Pederson, fresh off of a BVAL title, went 2-2 on Day 1 and did not wrestle Day 2.

The Acorns placed 17th overall out of 80 teams. With 241 points, Gilroy High won the team title for the 10th consecutive time. Palma placed second and St. Francis third.

For Sobrato, Evan Enright (160) was the lone Bulldog to make it past Day 1. He finished with a 3-2 record. Bryan Gomes (0-2), Thomas Burback (1-2) and Zach Zhang (0-2) also participated.
