More than two inches of rainfall has dropped on Morgan Hill in the last 12 hours, according to the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s gauge on Edmundson Avenue.
The water district’s levels show 2.01 in the last 12 hours and 2.09 in the last 24 hours as the latest storm continues to drench South County Feb. 7 and the entire Bay Area.
Over at Uvas Reservoir, a reported 3.19 inches has come down in the last 12 hours and 3.50 in the last 24 hours, according to SCVWD measurements
At the West Little Llagas gauge, 1.61 inches has been measured over the last 12 hours.
Pacific Gas & Electric posted minimal power outages (between 1-49 on the northeast side of town) in Morgan Hill on the power company’s website.
Meanwhile, schools remain open Tuesday despite some early morning power outages at certain sites, according to a message sent out to parents from the Morgan Hill Unified School District.
The rain is expected to keep up through the afternoon and evening Feb. 7 with highs in the lower 60s and southeast winds at 10 to 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast.
Rain, along with winds, is expected through Friday, NWS reports.
Sandbags are available 24/7 at three locations in town: 100 Edes Court (next to the city corporation yard); Old Monterey Road (next to the El Toro Fire Station) and Depot Street parking lot (between Fourth and Third Streets).
Water levels continue to be at or over capacity at area reservoirs, including Uvas Reservoir, which is at 109.4 percent capacity with 10,757.8 acre feet measured with only 9,835 acre feet of storage, according to SCVWD reports. Chesbro Reservoir is approaching capacity at 99.1 percent with 7,875 acre feet filled of 7,945 capacity. Anderson Reservoir is at 76.3 percent capacity (68,914.1/90,373 acre feet), while Coyote Reservoir is at 99.2 percent capacity (23,055.1/23,244 acre feet).
