Jeff Brandon, the school resource officer for Morgan Hill Unified School District, was recognized earlier this month as the Crisis Intervention Officer of the Year at the fifth annual Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Board Community Heroes Awards Ceremony.
Officer Brandon is a 15-year law enforcement veteran, including 11 with MHPD, and has been the SRO for MHUSD for the past two years. Only 10 officers from around Santa Clara County were honored with this award.
“It’s humbling,” said Officer Brandon of the award. “I don’t do this job for recognition; I do it to help make things better in the community and to help youth before they go too far down the wrong path.”
SCCBHB Community Hero Awards are given to community members who have made an extraordinary difference in the lives of people with behavioral health illness.
“He understands the value of connecting with our youth, getting to the root of their troubles, and he shows them respect and in turn garners their respect back,” said MHUSD Superintendent Steve Betando of Brandon.
