Century-old trees cut down by Rucker Elementary

We will celebrate his life at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to San Jose Kaiser Hospice, 50 Great Oaks Blvd., San Jose, CA 95119, or to any favorite charity.
Carl Manahan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed on at the age of 90 at home, on June 23, 2016.  Born in Inglewood, CA to Ralph and Onda Manahan, he was the middle child between brothers Ralph and Bob.  Carl proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII.  After the war, Carl married his high school sweetheart, Nancy, and graduated from USC with an accounting degree that sparked a 36-year-long career with Chevron and a lifelong dedication to USC Trojan football.
Too soon, Carl lost his wife, Nancy, to cancer in 1973.  Thirteen years later, however, good fortune found him true love again, and he married Jean.  Together they began a new, shared journey through life and had many wonderful adventures with the San Joaquin Yacht Club, traveling cross-country in their 5th wheel, and finally settling in Morgan Hill, where they continued to enjoy a life of love and companionship, dedicated to each other, family and friends.
Carl was a humble, kind and gentle soul who made the world a better place.  His beautiful smile and sense of humor and joy spoke more of who he was than any words can express.  He gave his heart and help to those he knew and loved, and those he knew not.
Ever loyal to country, family and USC Trojans, Carl will always be loved and missed by his loving wife, Jean, children, Bobbie, Wayne, Elaine, and our “other Wayne,” as well as by  grandchildren, Sheelah, Sky and Summer, great-grandson, Liam, great-grand-daughter, Nevaeh, extended family and many friends.
