SAN JOSE — Morgan Hill Bronco 11 Green gets a shot at payback tonight against Fremont, the result of Morgan Hill’s 10-8 victory Tuesday over Los Altos/Mountain View in the San Jose Sectional.
The Green All-Stars will play Fremont, the team that knocked them into the loser’s bracket, at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination game at Herman School.
Fremont scored four runs in the final inning to beat Green on Sunday.
“There’s a little revenge factor there,” Morgan Hill manager Mark Dean said. “The kids are excited. They get to finish the job.”
The Green All-Stars trailed 3-1 after the first inning, but eased away with three runs scored by Adam Jennings and Justin Sanders and two more by Justin Baker.
Ryan Quadros, Evan Dean and Anthony Saso all pitched for Morgan Hill, with Quadros working a scoreless final two innings to stop a late rally.
Fremont cut a 9-4 deficit to one with fours runs in the fifth.
“Our guys played well enough to win,” Mark Dean said. “They stayed focused and looked like they wanted to win.”
With a victory tonight, Morgan Hill will meet undefeated Blossom Valley in the section finals needing to win twice to make regionals.
