Alice M. Denhard, 91, died peacefully, of natural causes, in her Bandon, OR home. Native of San Francisco, predeceased by parents Otto E. and Ida K. Denhard, and sister Edna M. Denhard. Ms. Denhard graduated 1934 Lowell High School, S.F. and 1941 Leland Stanford Hospital Nursing School. She earned a B. A. Degree from Stanford University School of Nursing and M.A. from Columbia University, N.Y. Ms. Denhard retired 1970 as Assistant Clinical Professor from Stanford University School of Nursing. Then served as Director of Nursing, Wheeler Hospital, Gilroy, CA, and Director of Education, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, Salinas, CA, finally retiring 1979. Ms. Denhard was a distinguished member and volunteer of many professional and charitable organizations, including, Honorary Life Member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society and Historian Emerita of Stanford Nurses Alumnae. Ms. Denhard will be remembered by many for her mentoring, kindness, strength, courage, wisdom, and understanding.
