Sharp increase in auto break-ins

ambulance she was being transported in overturned in a car
accident.
A 96-year-old Morgan Hill woman was killed Friday when the ambulance she was being transported in overturned in a car accident.

The 1998 ambulance was traveling east on Buena Vista Avenue in Gilroy and attempted a left turn onto No Name Uno. A 2007 GMC pickup truck traveling west on Buena Vista Avenue struck the ambulance, causing it to overturn.

The ambulance driver and a male passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash. No injuries were listed for the driver of the GMC.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released by the coroner’s office, sustained lacerations and was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital, She was then airlifted to Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The cause is still under investigation.
