A service of praise and celebration will be held at the New Beginnings Church on Pike Church Road, where Bert served as an elder, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 25, 2013.  Interment will be private at the Sangerville Church of the Brethren cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.  Bert passed from this earthly life to begin his new life in eternity with God on April 22, 2013.

  He was born June 10, 1954 in Rockingham County, attended Fort Defiance High School and Virginia Commonwealth University.  After spending 22 years managing Long’s Drugs in Arizona and California, he retired to Bridgewater, VA and became the owner of P & R Trucking.

  Bert, humble servant of the Lord was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.  He was a man who loved God and family.

  He was preceded in death by his father Hobert Eugene (Gene) Michael, Sr., by his sister, Lavonne Cather and by his nephew Eric Fulton.

  He is survived by his wife Cindy, his daughter Melissa McCullough and husband Ryan of Cumming, GA, and his son Daniel.  He is also survived by his mother and step father, Patricia and Rolland Hunter, his brothers, Kevin, and Craig, and wife Sharon, sisters, Janette Fulton and Bob Knicely, and Sarah Moats and husband Johnny, a brother-in-law, Fred Cather and a step brother, Randy Hunter.  He was also survived by five grandchildren, Caitlin, Zachary, Hannah, Macie McCullough and Reilly Michael.  He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
