Thanks to Morgan Hill Traffic Enforcement Team
Dear Editor,
I would like to thank the Morgan Hill Police Department and the motorcycle officers for enforcing the traffic laws in our community.
Driving in Morgan Hill has become hazardous in the past years with some motorists speeding, driving through red lights and stop signs with no regard for the safety of others. Hopefully with this continued traffic enforcement our streets will become safe for law-abiding motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
Thanks again to the Morgan Hill Police Department.

Silicon Valley Puzzle Day a Great Success
Dear Editor,
The inaugural Silicon Valley Puzzle Day on Feb. 24 was a great success, thanks to the support and assistance from the Morgan Hill community. This event was organized by the Friends of the Library Beyond Books Campaign to raise funds for art and equipment for the new Morgan Hill Library now under construction.
Our thanks to local sponsors and donors Caldwell Banker Realtors, Fry’s Electronics, American Institute of Mathematics, Trader Joe’s, BookSmart, Friendly Fred’s, Jody’s Junction, Hot Spot, City of Morgan Hill and Mayor Steve Tate. Thanks also go to all the volunteers who helped at the tournament and vendors who participated in the marketplace. We’re also grateful to Sobrato High School librarian Terry Eves-Knudsen and especially to the Morgan Hill Times, the Beyond Books Campaign media sponsor.
Puzzle Day was the brainchild of Emily Reich Shem-Tov, who coordinated everything with the help of her committee made up of Kathy Sullivan, Lisa Pampuch, Marty Cheek and Vicky Reader. I am grateful to have such creative, hard-working volunteers who are dedicated to supporting our new library.
Plans are already under way for next year’s second annual Silicon Valley Puzzle Day!

Cops Not Too Busy to Give Speeding Tickets
Dear Editor,
I read in disbelief that our mayor said that our Morgan Hill Police Department is stretched too thin. If they are so “thin” why do we have extra officers trying to nail residents of Jackson Oaks and Holiday Lake going down Dunne Avenue. I have seen three police cars at one time all focused on this minor issue. All I am seeing is more police in our fine city than we already need trying to nail our residents with speeding tickets. I see a lot of new police cars and new police motorcycles which we funded. If they have nothing better to do than to try to catch our residents going a few miles an hour over the speed limit when going down hill, then I think our leaders have their priorities out of wack. I say cut back on our police and taxes if this is their priority. Why would the city add all these police officers in the first place if now they are saying we need more funding? Looks like our local government is out of control and being mismanaged.
