Morgan Hill – Live Oak boys swept Leigh and Santa Teresa at a double dual swim meet held last Friday in the Acorn pool.
Live Oak defeated the Longhorns 120-63 and beat the Saints 124-58. Meanwhile, the Acorn girls defeated Leigh 106-70 and lost to Santa Teresa 116-69.
Among the winners for the Live Oak boys were the 200 medley relay team of Peachey, Cameron Peachey, Steven Rick, Mike Wu and Sam Cretcher in 1:49.01, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Rick, Cretcher, Cameron and Wu). Wu (1:50.42) and Cretcher (1:58.73) finished 1-2 in the 200 freestyle. Also, Wu was first in the 100 butterfly in 55.31.
Rick, meanwhile, was a double winner, finishing first in the 200 individual medley in 2:01.58 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.09. Peachey was first in the 100 freestyle in 53.59. And Cretcher was first in the 500 freestyle in 5:20.25. Alex Sennert won the backstroke in 1:03.81. Brandon Seminatore led a 1-2-3 Acorn sweep in 1-meter diving with 159.30 points.
Live Oak’s Laura Shope had a strong performance in the girls meet, winning the 50 freestyle in 25.36 and 100 freestyle in 56.25, and anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:46.88). Other members of the winning team were Jessica Poon, Alisa Pinarbasi and Kate Rick.
Rick also posted a first in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.29.
Sobrato highlights
In a recent double dual meet between Sobrato, San Jose and Yerba Buena, the following swimmers were standouts for the Bulldogs:
Katelyn Smith won the 200 freestyle in 2:07.92 and 100 breaststroke in 1:21.57. The Sobrato junior also swam legs on the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. Taylor Windgassen won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.92 and 100 backstroke in 1:06.04, and also was on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
Rachel Sandberg won the 500 freestyle in 7:04.88 and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Amelia Greenland won the 200 IM in 2:39.80 and swam legs on the 200 medley and freestyle relay teams. Amanda Daspit won the 50 freestyle in 30.86 and swam a leg on the 400 freestyle relay team. Anjana Devaraj won the 100 freestyle in 1:08.80 and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team.
The boys were led by four individuals who won two events and swam on winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Sky Sandberg won the 200 IM in 2:18.27 and 100 butterfly in 59.68. Ammon Suzuki won the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Danny Thompson won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.29 and 105 backstroke in 1:05.21. Derek Bowman won the 500 freestyle in 6:04.72 and 100 breaststroke in 1:17.75.
