Silicon Valley Gives

The Learning and Loving Education Center was the top breadwinner for Morgan Hill nonprofits that participated in the May 5 Silicon Valley Gives 24-hour online telethon—raising $6,317 thanks to 54 donors.
The Center, which “is committed to empowering women through education so that they can improve their future prospects and that of their children,” finished in 17th place on the small nonprofit leaderboard.
The 2015 fundraiser—organized by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation—benefitted nonprofits within Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Benito Counties to the tune of $7,802,085 through 17,090 unique donors making 22,982 donations on May 5. That number jumped to $7,869,827 with additional donations made after May 5, according to details provided on the SVGives website.
The inaugural 2014 event raised more than $8 million.
The 24-hour online platform, run through the crowdfunding website Razoo, is aimed at inspiring and uniting local communities to support philanthropic causes.
Other local nonprofits that raised funds through the event were: Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center ($4,305/34 donors); Leadership Morgan Hill ($2,600/28 donors); Morgan Hill Historical Society ($1,325/22 donors); and Morgan Hill Community Foundation ($2,345/15 donors).
