HOLLISTER — There may have been 120 other golfers in the 17th Annual Golf Classic of Rotary Club of Morgan Hill, but when the totals were added, it was two local Rotary clubs vying for the top prizes.
With a 52 score, the low-net team was Morgan Hill Rotarians Lowell Sando of San Martin, Jim Baker of San Jose and John Fagan and Darren Fry of Morgan Hill.
Gilroy Rotarians Joel Goldsmith, David Cox, Brad Nye, and Hollister’s Ron Garofolo scored 58 as the low-gross team.
The Sept. 10 event at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister netted $23,000, which will be will be given by Rotary Club of Morgan Hill as college scholarship for local students and for other charitable needs.

“It was an incredibly successful sold-out tournament on an incredibly beautiful day,” Rotary Club of Morgan Hill’s president-elect and tourney chair Bob Crowe said.
The all-day event featured a shotgun start, putting green and other golf contests and complimentary golf wear and accessories. The yournament concluded with an awards dinner and charity auction.
Major sponsors were Robert C. Crowe, O.D. Optometry and CSC Laboratories in Watsonville.
Proceeds from the classic benefit the local charitable giving programs and service projects of Rotary Club of Morgan Hill are detailed at www.morganhillrotary.org.
The club announced the next tournament will be Sept. 9, 2011.
