Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

Dear Red Phone, it’s been such a pleasant summer and fall, so
leaving the windows open at night to keep the house cool has been
so nice. However, a couple evenings per week, we rush to slam the
windows close due to the awful smell of skunk was just wondering if
everyone else is experiencing this predicament and has it been
determined that we have an increase of skunks in downtown Morgan
Hill?

“Dear Red Phone, it’s been such a pleasant summer and fall, so leaving the windows open at night to keep the house cool has been so nice. However, a couple evenings per week, we rush to slam the windows close due to the awful smell of skunk was just wondering if everyone else is experiencing this predicament and has it been determined that we have an increase of skunks in downtown Morgan Hill? What can the city or residents do to rid of these annoying town invaders?”

Red Phone: Dear Skunked Out, Red Phone contacted Animal Control officer Daniel Pina, who said the city has seen more the usual number of skunks in the city. He believes it was due to the large amount of rain that fell last winter, which drives the skunks from their holes and other areas where they live that may have flooded. One thing you can do, good caller, is not leave out any dog or cat food for wild animals to find.

Hope that helps keep the air clean near your home.

Who’s making all that racket?

“Red Phone, there have been some brief fireworks in the distance to the north of us. Tonight (Friday, Oct. 15) they were going off about 8:20 p.m.. Any idea where they’re coming from? Who’s doing them?”

“Red Phone, this is the second time that I’ve heard fireworks without knowing anything about it. So this time I called the police department. Before I could get a word out – the person that answered said ‘Are you calling about the fireworks at Sobrato High School? Yes they are permitted.’ I said, ‘yes’ and that was it. I’m sure they were getting lots of calls. What is distressing to me is many dogs have noise phobias and can’t cope with fireworks. Many have to be drugged at least a couple of hours before an event or better yet if advanced notice is given some leave town with their dogs. It’s a big deal and very upsetting. Without warning, these families have a very stressful situation and it takes hours for a dog to get back to normal.”

Red Phone: Dear Who and Why No Warning, first those were the fireworks that were set off as part of Sobrato High School’s homecoming game against Gunderson High School. There was a mention that fireworks would be shot off at half-time in this paper on page 3 Friday.

Good callers, read the Times to stay up to date.
