The newest edition of the Orchard Valley Storm has kicked off the spring by reeling off a five game winning streak to begin the season. The Storm has outscored their opposition 12-0 while building a perfect 5-0-0 record.
The early season success starts with the shutout goal keeping of Rebekah Inouye and Sarah Lewis. Fullbacks Tori Gulla, Emily Kyle, Erin Smolka and Tula Urban have made the keeper’s life easy by shutting down opposing offenses. The Storm’s veteran midfield, led by Janessa Garcia, Paige Menage, Sydney Barker, Macey Dunne and Amber Thomas has controlled the play throughout the early going and provided forwards Taylor Slattery, Monica Luna, Molly Cuevas and Michaela Swensen with plenty of opportunities to score.

Yankees vs. Indians
For the Indians, Jasper Evans, Morgan Smith, and Anthony Beltramo all smacked out doubles for RBIs, and Mathew Kastle, Kyle Greenhalgh, Albert Arias, Steven Navarra, Rajay Ramon each had singles.
For the Yankees, great pitching by Alejandro Torres and Anthony Saso. Doubles hit by Ryan Spohn, Gus Rubio, Alejandro Torres and Sammy Johnson. Singles by August Eulo, Brandon Puthoff, Jimmy Castro and Zachary Herscovitch.
Yankees vs. Rangers
Rangers pitchers: Justin Nelson, Adam Jennings and Tyler Molina
Yankees pitchers: Sammy Johnson, Alejandro Torres, and Anthony Saso
The top of the order proved especially effective for the Rangers. Doubles were hit by Justin Dziuba, Evan Richardson, and Jennings. Both Molina and Josh Zellner reached base each time they came to the plate. Contributing to the Rangers defense were Ryan Hunsaker, Andrew Pratt, Dallas Ogden, Jonathan Pulsifer, Colton Ogden, and JD Dickey. Johnson’s triple in the second inning was the offensive highlight for the Yanks. Other Yanks with extra base hits included Torres, who hit two doubles, and Gus Rubio. Every other Yankee hit safely at least once including Ryan Spohn, Saso, Kyle Simmons, Jimmy Castro, Auggie Eulo, and Brandon Puthoff.
Mustang division
Cubs 13, Braves 6
The Cubs scored first on a single by Andrew Bueno and an RBI single from Adrian Garcia. The Cubs scored 5 runs in the 3rd on a leadoff walk from Jaryd Pollard, a single from Bueno, a walk to Kyle Kinsey and then back-to-back doubles from Garcia and Jarvis, followed by a triple from Pasek. The Braves trimmed the Cubs’ lead in the bottom of the 4th, scoring 2 runs 2 walks and singles by Freitas, Scott Bailey, and Jonathan Davis. The Cubs scored 3 runs in the 5th on a single from Matt Jarvis, followed by a thundering hit by Bueno down the 1st base line for a home run. Garcia then followed with a single, stole 2nd, and came home on a throwing error. The Braves found some outstanding offense of their own in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 4 runs on 3 walks, a 2-RBI single from Freitas, and a 2-RBI single from Schlaefli. However, the Cubs put the game out of reach by scoring 4 more in the 6th on 2 walks, singles by Matt Jarvis, Kinsey,
and Pasek and a double from Bueno.

The Indians scored first on an RBI double from Josiah Wylie in the 1st inning. The Cubs then jumped into the lead, scoring 5 runs. The Indians added 2 runs in the top of the 2nd. The Indians kept the Cubs to 1 run in the 2nd. The Indians scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd on a walk to Dukes and singles by Wylie, Hanne, and Nick Blocker to take a 7-6 lead. However, the Cubs then found their offense, scoring 5 runs on 3 walks, a triple into leftfield from Andrew Bueno, and a single from Garcia. The Indians managed 1 more run in the top of the 4th on a walk to Lucas Cook, who then stole 2nd, 3rd, and took home on a passed ball. The Cubs extended their lead with 5 more runs in the bottom of the 4th on 5 walks and a single from Bueno. The Cubs added 4 more runs in the bottom of the 5th on 2 walks, a single by Garcia, an RBI sacrifice by Pasek and RBI singlesfrom Matt Cummings and Dylan Kral.

Angels 17, Mariners 8
The Angels continued to swing hot bats winning 3 of their last 4 games by 4 runs or more. Jayson Smith pitched 3 scoreless innings, and Brett Kirchick pitched the final inning for the Angels. Kirchick also led the way with his bat by getting 2 hits and scoring 2 runs. Brent Bottomley and Blake Latos each scored 2 runs while Nick Giordano and Parker Tamura each pitched an inning for the Angels. Nelson Pyle scored 2 runs, Ryan Mitchell had 2 hits and Kyle Quadros pitched 3 innings for the Mariners.
Diamondbacks 7, Reds 2
The Diamondbacks’ three pitchers were Kody Roop, P.J Tercero, and John Forestieri. The D-backs had back to back doubles by John Foresteri and Jim Hagan to win the game. Those doubles sealed the win.
