Silver Raiders

The Morgan Hill Jr. Pee Wee (Silver) Raiders went on the road and rallied to a 32-13 win over playoff bound Bay Cities.

This was by far the Raiders’ most complete game so far this season.

With the win the Raiders have kept their slim playoff hopes alive and may have possibly knocked Bay Cities out of the playoff picture, pending this week’s games.

The Raiders jumped out to a 12-0 lead, before Bay Cities battled back for a 13-12 lead. But the Raiders responded with 20 unanswered points and held Bay Cities scoreless for the last two quarters of play.

Leading the way offensively for the Raiders was tailback Kyle Lappano. He had a record setting day with 203 yards rushing including three touchdown runs of two, 50 and 70 yards.

Paving the way for Lappano with awesome blocking was fullback Rhett Ramirez, lineman Jon Molina, Brett Jackson, Danny Galli, Daniel Enriquez, Trevor Thorne, tightend Ryan Rigginsand Receivers Jacob Martin and Alec Mainland. And making his first start at quarterback was Ricky Clift.

Ryan Clare, Trevor Maciel, Tommy Piedra, Dalton Holt, Patrick Hanne, Nicholas Rosales, Connor Havstad and P.J. Pena also provided holes with excellent blocking.

Ramirez chipped in 24 yards rushing. Clift added 11 yards running and completed a PAT with a nice pass to Riggins in the end zone. Dylan Glines netted 12 yards rushing. Darryn Diaz gained 10 yards. And Brian Celestino added seven yards running.

Lappano also scored two special teams touchdowns with punt returns for 55 and 60 yard scores giving him 318 total yards for the game. Jacob Martin threw a key block on Lappano’s first return. Rhett Ramirez sprang Lappano with a great block on his second return.

Defensively, the Raiders were led by Strong Safety Rhett Ramirez who recorded nine tackles. Kyle Lappano made eight tackles from free safety, including three Touchdown saving stops. Taylor Ricketts and Jon Molina made seven stops each. Molina also recovered a fumble. Jacob Martin had six tackles and recovered a fumble. Backer Brett Jackson had five stops, forced a fumbled and knocked down a pass on a goal line stand. Ricky Clift recorded five tackles. Glines, Patrick Hanne and Ryan Riggins had 3 tackles apiece. Brian Celestino, P.J. Pena and Connor Havstad had two tackles each. Havstad saved a potential touchdown with a cross field diving angle tackle. And Ryan Clare and Darryn Diaz each made one stop.
