Cajun food coming soon to Morgan Hill

“Red Phone, I’ve only lived here since August, but this has come up several times recently and that is dogs that don’t have any tags on them that are running loose in the street. I called animal control because there was a pit bull on LaCrosse Drive and it was running back and forth across the street and I was afraid it was going to get hit by a car. It’s understandable dogs get out from time to time, but they should have some kind of tags indicating an address or phone number. I know there are people who would call rather than let the dog run in the street. So, a dog tag with a phone number and address would be helpful. Than you so much.”

Red Phone: Dear Doggone, Red Phone contacted Daniel Pina, Animal Control Officer, who said all dogs are required to have a city license.

“This helps me identify the dog owner,” Pina said. As far as confidentiality, the police department is the only agency that can get the animal information from the tag issued by the city. “It does help when an animal has extra tags with name and address, but at the same time it makes it easier for someone to steal your pet by knowing this info.”

Pina said getting caught allowing your dog to run at large without a license comes with a citation. “Fines are different all the time so it’s hard to say the amounts.”

So good caller, hope that answers your questions.

Sure miss that cute downtown boutique

“My daughter and I loved shopping at the Glam Boutique in downtown – everything was so affordable, but they have not been open for business in over a month. Will they every open up again?”

Red Phone: Dear Glam Fan, Red Phone contacted Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chris Guisiana, Business Assistance and Housing Services Director Garrett Toy, and Downtown Business Association Executive Director Jorge Briones. Only Briones had any information.

“As I understand from the property owner, the store will not be reopening in downtown,” he said. “I have no further details, but understand that a new store is expected to fill that vacant space soon.”

Good caller, it never fails. Find a favorite store and it closes. Find your favorite shampoo or pair of pants, and they stop making them.

Guess you’ll just have to search for another boutique that tickles your fancy.

OK to park in bike lane if not prohibited

“Red Phone, turning from a bike lane is OK, but parking in bike lane? I don’t think so. But on Dunne Avenue and Butterfield Boulevard it happens, where are the police?”

Red Phone: Dear No Parking, Red Phone contacted Sgt. Jerry Neumayer, who said vehicles may park in the bicycle lanes, as long as there are no signs prohibiting parking.

So, there you have it, good caller.
