The Sobrato High cross country team got off to a strong start to
its season with a good performance at the North Monterey Early Bird
Invitational Cross Country meet at Toro Park in Salinas on
Saturday, a meet that featured a meet record 56 schools and 2,100
runners.
The Sobrato High cross country team got off to a strong start to its season with a good performance at the North Monterey Early Bird Invitational Cross Country meet at Toro Park in Salinas on Saturday, a meet that featured a meet record 56 schools and 2,100 runners.

Bulldogs sophomore Lance Wolfsmith picked up where he left off last year. Wolfsmith, a freshman All-State runner last year, took first out of 271 sophomore runners with a time of 16:01.

The Sobrato frosh-soph girls were strong, capturing third place. Kendra Higgins took first with a time of 19:41 and Amber Masoni, Melina Silva, Amanda Conlin, Kayla Nishimatasu, Kirstin Kuwatani and Deseree Saenz contributed to the solid finish.

Freshman Alan Rios took eighth out of 239 in the freshmen competition with his time of 17:59.
