Boasting the second largest group of runners in its history, the
22nd annual Wildflower Run celebrated another successful year on
Sunday. A total of 511 runners and walkers, including a record 71
kids aged 12 and under, competed in the event
’s three races, which included a 10K Run, a 5K Fun Run and Walk,
and a 2K Kids Race.
Boasting the second largest group of runners in its history, the 22nd annual Wildflower Run celebrated another successful year on Sunday.

A total of 511 runners and walkers, including a record 71 kids aged 12 and under, competed in the event’s three races, which included a 10K Run, a 5K Fun Run and Walk, and a 2K Kids Race.

The longtime local event is sponsored by the American Association of University Women.

In the 10K Run, Jaime Lopez took first-place honors in 36:40.71, followed by Ignacio Valencia (43:00.45) and Michael McDonald (43:01.98).

Janet Martin (43:50.69) took first place in the women’s category, followed by Gaylia Osterlund (45:19.91) and Marti Menz-Thoms (46:46.12).

A couple of area high school stars were among the top finishers in the 5K, including Live Oak High’s Jon Kamei, who finished first overall in 18:42.70, and Hollister-San Benito’s Jamie O’Brian, who took second in the women’s category at 21:49.70.

Jasmine Green took first in the women’s category in 20:00.20, while Dayne Gradone was second overall in 18:44.40 and Allan Chan took third in 19:13.30.

In the 2K Kids Race, Ana Maria Rich took first in 7:51, followed by Trevor Foote in 7:55, Guilleman Cuevas in 8:41, Sebastion Forbush in 9:05 and Drake Newkirk in 9:09.

Rich also competed against the adults and teens in the 5K and finished 19th overall (fourth among the women) in 22:09.80.
