Firefighters were given a scare of a possible wildfire in Henry
W. Coe State Park this evening.
Firefighters were given a scare of a possible wildfire in Henry W. Coe State Park this evening.
About 4:45 p.m., firefighters reported a haze of brown smoke several ridges into the park. They did not know if there had been any burn permits issued to residents or if the fire was a controlled burn.
As of 5 p.m., firefighters were still trying to get to a vantage point where they could judge the danger of the fire.
However, as of 5:15 p.m., firefighters said that they believed the the incident was likely the result of a controlled burn.
Wisps of brown smoke could be seen to the east of Morgan Hill and Gilroy, carried southward by a strong wind.
