I find that the article written by Robert Mitchell in the April 15 edition somewhat troubling. In attempting to “slam: President Bush, he trivializes the battles fought in Afganistan and Iraq. In doing so, he also trivializes the sacrifices that our soldiers have made. Probably one of the reasons this bothers me is because my son is a U.S. Marine currently stationed in the Iraq area (exact whereabouts unknown).

I have a question for Mr. Mitchell. Who has the responsiblity to stop other countries involved in mass murders. I believe that human rights groups estimate that Saddam murdered over 110,000 people in the last 10 years. Who has the responsibility to do something to stop this? I have been a policeman for well over 20 years. I have responded to thousands of calls where it was my responsibility to stop the violence. Whose responsibility is it to police (not conquer) the world?
