The Wildlife Education Rehabilitation Center is very grateful to announce and pleased to recognize several area businesses and organizations that awarded funding either to present educational programs or unrestricted donations for other programs and operations.

During the 2002-2003 school year, Cisco Systems Foundation, Air Systems Foundation, Calpine, Commonwealth Central Credit Union and Gilroy’s Tee-Off for Youth Golf Tournament awarded grants to present free educational programs for area schools, libraries and youth organizations. WERC’s program meet many or all of the California Life Science Standards for grades K-6, and pique students’ interests to learn more about our world. Without the grants, many educators can’t provide supplemental programs due to the current financial crisis in education.

These additional funds also enabled WERC to expand into school districts that never before received our programs, many of which service disadvantaged students. Thanks to these funders, WERC has already presented or scheduled more programs than ever before.

If you are or know an educator or youth leader who would like to apply for free presentations under these grants, please contact WERC. We’re already booking summer and fall programs, so please call now to reserve you date and time. Funding is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Unrestricted and sponsorship donations came from Ebert Construction, Gilroy Garlic Festival, Morgan Hill Kiwanis, Petco Foundation, Wild Bird Center, and other private donors. We’ll use these funds to care for the many orphaned, sick, and injured animals that need our help.

Thank you to all our supporters for their generous contributions to our cause, and especially sharing our missions of wildlife education and rehabilitation. We hope you will support these groups and businesses that support WERC.

And if you would like to further support WERC, we have a barbecue scheduled Saturday, June 21, with auction and live entertainment to raise money for wildlife care. Adults/$30, Children/$10. Details: www.werc-ca.org or 779-9372.
