Playing against the top junior water polo programs in the nation
in the Junior Olympics last weekend, the Morgan Hill 18U water polo
team had its hands full. But the team, which is coached by Mack
Haines and features mostly top players from Live Oak High and
Hollister-San Benito High, is still alive in the prestigious event
being held at various locations in and around San Jose. This,
despite losing its first four matches against formidable
opposition.

But the team, which is coached by Mack Haines and features mostly top players from Live Oak High and Hollister-San Benito High, is still alive in the prestigious event being held at various locations in and around San Jose. This, despite losing its first four matches against formidable opposition.
On Saturday, the local squad dropped its opener 7-5 to Newport Harbor (Southern California), then lost to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. 9-3 later that day.
On Sunday, MH was edged 4-3 by Marin in its first match of the day, and followed that up with an 8-4 loss to East WPC.
But after a forfeit on Monday, the local team is set to compete on Tuesday against W. Suburban at 8:50am at Los Gatos High.
MH earned the right to compete in the Junior Olympics tournament in a pre-qualifying tourney.
