Dear Editor,
To be an effective public official, you have to know the city, its people, their values, issues, the opportunities, and the constraints and the many state laws and regulations that apply to just about everything we do. In this year’s race for mayor, Morgan Hill City Councilman Steve Tate is the only candidate truly qualified to serve. He’s been here for all of us, and has given unselfishly of himself over the years.
Councilman Greg Sellers has all the prerequisites and more. His knowledge of the RDA process and projects will be immeasurably helpful as council moves forward to extend the RDA cap. Skills, knowledge and abilities that he has acquired are necessary as we address our long list of infrastructure needs, look to make our downtown vibrant and economically sustainable and to insure that our community’s health, safety and welfare are protected.
Alex Kennett is an incredibly strong candidate for council. Alex has been a tremendous supporter of Morgan Hill. He has extensive experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to serve this city and serve it well. He fulfills every prerequisite and more. He currently serves as an elected member of the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. He has served on the Chamber of Commerce and many committees too long to list. He has been before council on various issues. He knows this city, its values and cultural heritage. Alex has the most approachable, sincere and unassuming qualities of anyone I have ever known. His leadership skills will help guide this city to new directions, to balance our budget and to preserve our rural character.Â
All of these candidates have my support and they should have yours as well as we move closer to the November election date and make key decision on those that will have the greatest impact on our day to day lives.
Mark Grzan, Morgan Hill
Member of the Morgan Hill City Council
