Dear Editor,
I am writing in support of Measure A, the county half-cent sales tax.
Every day, Morgan Hill residents depend on the availability of basic infrastructure and services like our roads and transit system and our emergency medical services. We can see the results of the past four years of budget cuts at the county: longer waits at emergency rooms, fewer sheriff deputies on the roads, and more potholes on our streets. And with state and federal governments cutting funding right and left, just as medical costs are skyrocketing, the future looks even bleaker.
Measure A will provide local funds for local priorities. It’s money that can’t be taken away by Sacrament or Washington, and it will be used to fund the critical programs that Morgan Hill families need to know they can rely on. Please join Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage, Santa Clara Sheriff Laurie Smith, all five Morgan Hill City Council Members and the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce in voting yes on Measure A.
