The recent council decision on the proposed Ford dealership has been troubling.

I am a long-time resident of the city, having lived in Morgan Hill more than 25 years. I have seen the community grow and flourish.

Decisions made by the City Council have either grown to be a great asset to this community or a scar and blight that cankers with time. The city council and its members exist because of faithful voters of the community.

The Council has taken up the obligation of serving the people of Morgan Hill, of seeking out their will and best interest. City residents have clearly voiced their opposition to this dealership.

The mayor and council majority are under an obligation to preserve the will of the people. That has not happened. I urge them to reconsider. Do not simply “listen” and “hear” what the people of Morgan Hill are telling you … but feel it as strongly as they do.

The recent vote for the dealership may inevitably cost them their position on the council and the respect of those in the community.

The council majority needs to work to ensure that their contribution is something delightsome for our small community of friends and neighbors.
