EDITOR: Your Feb. 7 article headlined
“Driver arrested after fatal accident” states that “one man was
killed and three were injured” in this tragic accident. Buried in
the fourth paragraph of the article, you mention that the “infant
did not survive” – the woman passenger in the car that was hit was
eight months pregnant and
delivered by cesarian section at the hospital.

Your Feb. 7 article headlined “Driver arrested after fatal accident” states that “one man was killed and three were injured” in this tragic accident. Buried in the fourth paragraph of the article, you mention that the “infant did not survive” – the woman passenger in the car that was hit was eight months pregnant and delivered by cesarian section at the hospital.

It is upsetting that articles like yours, and the letter to the editor in the same issue continue to promote the idea that a viable unborn child is somehow not a real human being. Clearly “Baby Girl Barrios” was barely worthy of mention in your article. The driver who allegedly caused this tragic accident was charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter. Our prayers go out for the families who have lost not one, but two precious members.
