There isn’t much ordinary citizens can normally do to support serving troops and to show appreciation of veterans of past military service – besides flag decals and sock donations.

And with war going on in Iraq, this year’s observance has even more meaning.

On Tuesday, ordinary citizens will have a chance to honor and appreciate those who serve, those who served and, especially, those who fell in the service of our country.

For the 12th year in a row residents will gather at the Veterans Memorial for this purpose, all because Morgan Hill’s own Eddie Bowers has organized it. Bowers, a Vietnam vet himself, says it is important to make a big deal about Veterans’ Day. And it is.

If you are in town, come on down and see for yourself. The ceremony is always touching and inspiring. And say “thanks” to Eddie.

Tuesday, Nov. 11, 9 a.m. Veteran’s Memorial, Monterey Road at First Street in the center divider. Details: 779-4106.
