Americans in general are to be commended for their efforts to improve the working conditions of the labor force.

At one time in the late ‘40s and ‘50s, the Santa Clara Valley had somewhere in the neighborhood of about 40,000 workers belonging to many Unions.

It may be remembered it consisted of Lockheed, Food Machinery Corp (FMC), General Electric, United Technologies, International Minerals and Chemicals, Henry Iron Works and some others.

Where have the companies gone to? Who knows or who cares? Did the unions care about these leaving. Not to my knowledge. The only major employee in the Valley was the U.S. Navy and that was not unionized. Therefore, I suggest that before any war is declared, the Armed Forces should be unionized and a vote should be taken by the rank and file in the military services, and not by the so-called selected, or elected officials of gtovernment for this reason: The guns, rockets, planes, bullets, bombs, tanks and other methods of warfare were manufactured to a large degree by union labor, and the services are sworn to “protect our way of life.”

Perhaps you are a third generation on welfare, of limited education, a loyal union member standing on a picket line in all kinds of weather holding an “unfair sign.” Unfair to whom?

Now let us examine the record of the CEOs and the “financial experts” that looted (this means robbed) the retirement plans and 401-K plans of the employees. In my opinion union reps and the company officials are “eating” at the same table of the employee retirement plan and enjoying it, and as of this date, not any of the officials of the bankrupt companies have been charged with or indictments issued because of the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution which offers protection to the guilty under the self incrimination clause. In my opinion, here is where the unfair sign should be displayed.
