Reggiardo family celebrates 100 years
In the early 1900s, Giuseppe Reggiardo, also known as “Joe Tuna” or “Joe Regge” (born 1878), came from the little town of Tunno, in the province of Liguria in northern Italy. His journey for a new, improved life started with a passage on a boat to a new world: America, The Land of Opportunity. He left his sisters and family in Italy and departed with some sadness, but with high expectations that buoyed his sagging spirit.
Hollister charter school gains district approval in 3-2 vote
The Hollister School District on Tuesday approved a contract and conditional approval of a petition to open a charter school in Hollister for the 2013-14 school year.

Gang-related shooting on Glenview Drive
An unknown suspect in a gang-related shooting fired at an unoccupied car and an occupied residence at 10th Street and Glenview Drive just after midnight on Nov. 28.
