Police arrest man wanted for assault, gang affiliation
Early this morning, Gilroy Police Department executed a search warrant on the 7300 block of Old Gilroy Drive in Gilroy for Robert Birrueta, 21, who was wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang.

UPDATED: Due to ongoing lawsuit, bank balks on fire station financing
UPDATE: The City Council Wednesday night unanimously approved a resolution to extend the escrow period for the $2.9 million purchase of the two fire stations until April 30, and directed City staff to proceed with seeking an alternate financing agreement.
