Memorial Day weekend camping reservations set all-time record high

The California Department of Parks and Recreation has some advice for unhappy campers struggling to find a campsite for Memorial Day Weekend. People who left it to the last minute to try and get a prime spot at beach and coastal campsites are asked to consider campgrounds farther inland or north, said Roy Stearns of the Parks and Rec Department.

County, City finalize RDA settlement

Santa Clara County and City of Morgan Hill officials announced Thursday they have finalized a settlement of a dispute related to the transfer of Morgan Hill Redevelopment Agency properties and cash to the newly formed Morgan Hill Economic Development Corporation in March 2011.

City works on revising growth management system

As part of the City of Morgan Hill’s effort to update its General Plan and other long-term planning documents, City Hall has invited outside experts to share their experiences managing growth in communities in California and across the country. Thus the City Council has directed its staff and a consultant to explore revisions to the City's growth management system, and, as an initial step in that multi-year process, officials have organized a public symposium May 29 to learn about strategies that have succeeded elsewhere, according to a press release from the City’s General Plan update consultant, The Planning Center.

DEAR ABBY: I was surprised to see you equate a concerned grandmother's creative solution to smoking with bribery in your Feb. 14 column. The word "bribe" has a negative connotation.
