UPDATED: Police rescue ‘neglected’ dog
Morgan Hill police rescued a “neglected” dog enclosed with an apparent injury in a pig pen after a resident reported the abused animal, according to police. A resident of Willow Court reported the dog, Toby, appeared to be neglected as it was living in a pen with a 100-pound pig, according to police. The resident told police that the dog looked like it was malnourished and limping, and it “cries all the time.” Also the smell from the pig was reported as “horrible and getting worse.” The dog was reported about 6:40 p.m. Saturday. A short video of the dog posted to youtube.com by a relative of the concerned resident of Willow Court shows the animal shuffling around in a confined space, favoring its hind legs. The concerned resident initially reported the dog to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who referred the caller to Morgan Hill Police, according to the relative.MHPD posted a post on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon reporting the incident, and that officers had just visited the home to rescue the dog. “The dog was uncared for and sick,” the MHPD Facebook post says. “MHPD officers took possession of the dog and he is now at a local animal hospital receiving treatment.”
