Walter and Sondra Banks: Worth the wait

It was early September 1964 when 15-year-old Walter Banks, Jr. was introduced to 14-year-old Sondra Tyndal at her home in Greenfield, Mass.

Casey and Blair Franklin: Best man becomes the groom

I saw Casey for the first time at my good friend's wedding in Spokane, Wash. He was the best man. I liked his beard, his wicked dance moves and the way he made everyone smile. I was very drawn to him and had a strange feeling that was the guy I was going to marry. So, after many glasses of champagne, I told the bride I had a crush on the best man. She obligingly passed my message along, and the rest is history. We just celebrated our one year anniversary Jan. 26.

Eddie and Lisa Ruminski: The perfect match

In 2005, Eddie and I were both widowed after lengthy marriages - he in Morgan Hill and I in Monterey. We each thought we would spend the rest of our lives single and were gradually resigning ourselves to that condition, but we both felt lonely. Finally, at the urging of our respective sisters, we simultaneously decided to try eHarmony, an online dating service recommended by the AARP.

Dick and Carmen Vieira: A cowboy and his sweetheart

Dick Vieira and Carmen Galdos were married May 7, 1950. They dated for three years before getting married, meeting at a dance in San Juan Bautista. Mom said he was the only boy with a car - "He was high-tone." Dad was smitten from the beginning and said he chased "her until she caught him." I don't know who chased who. It depends on who tells the story.

Wives banished from men’s club should start their own

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I live in a 55-plus retirement community. We do many things together, but we also do things independently. One resident decided to form two men's clubs. One meets every week for breakfast, and the other twice a month at night. The members go to each other's homes for the evening meetings.

Pregnant young wife needs to plan for future support

DEAR ABBY: One of my childhood friends got married at a young age. She's now expecting and due in a few months. Every day she messages me on Facebook about something else her husband has done to cause her emotional stress. For example, a few weeks ago she found flirtatious erotic messages he had exchanged with another girl.

Man stands up for groom’s role in wedding planning

DEAR ABBY: Why is a wedding always about the bride? Why is the groom often ignored and the occasion not about BOTH of them? I find this offensive as a man who, by tradition, is supposed to "take care of her," but is ignored as a partner in the relationship.
