THE local singing group performs an annual series of Christmas carols at Old Mission San Juan Bautista, other venues. The Oriana Chorale wrapped up its series of Christmas carols sung locally, including a concert at Old Mission San Juan Bautista on Dec. 15. The group also played at the First Presbyterian Church on Dec. 11 and Dec. 13. Singers performed traditional holidays songs. For more, go to orianachorale.org.
Petersen-Adams engagement
Carly M. Pedersen and Scott H. Adams announced their engagement on Dec. 24. The bride to be is a 2003 graduate of Live Oak High School and graduated from Santa Clara University in 2008. Pedersen is a Cost Control Analyst for Pebble Beach Resorts. She is the daughter of Jeff and Bobbi Pedersen who reside in Morgan Hill. Adams graduated from Enterprise High School in 1995 and served in the US Air Force in 1997. He was a PGA Class A Professional in 2006. Currently, he is head PGA Golf Professional at San Juan Oaks Golf Course in San Juan Bautista. He is the son of Sharon Adams-Bucher of Aptos, and Steve Adams

Police arrest 141 DUI suspects during holidays
So far during this holiday season’s police crackdown on drunk and impaired driving, law enforcement agencies throughout the county have arrested 141 people on suspicion of DUI, according to a press release from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.These arrests were made from Dec. 18 to Dec. 27, police said. This period marks the beginning of the sheriff’s and other police agencies’ annual winter holiday “Avoid the 13” enforcement effort. The campaign uses grant funds to place extra officers on the road during high-traffic times, and conduct DUI checkpoints and other enforcement activities.Over the next several days, “saturation patrols” will be conducted in the city of Gilroy, throughout unincorporated Santa Clara County, and the cities of Los Altos and Campbell, according to the press release.Funding for the Avoid the 13 program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Top San Jose economist joins Morgan Hill staff
