A vehicle fire of unknown cause resulted in about $2,200 in damage to a pickup truck, and an unrelated grass fire burned about a quarter-acre of vegetation Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Someone reported a vehicle that was on fire in the parking lot of the city’s Centennial Recreation Center, 171 West Edmundson Ave., about 3:38 p.m. Saturday, according to Santa Clara County Fire Department communications personnel.

When firefighters arrived, the Dodge Dakota pickup truck was fully engulfed in flames.

About $2,200 worth of damage was reported in the fire, and no one was injured, the dispatch employee said. Firefighters spent about one hour extinguishing the blaze.

Firefighters have already investigated the fire, and were unable to determine its cause.

Less than an hour later and further west, a vegetation fire was reported on Willow Springs Road. Calfire responded with numerous engines, an air attack out of Hollister, according to Calfire communications personnel.

Assisting in fighting that blaze were two engines from Santa Clara County.

The fire was contained to about a quarter-acre of grass. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Firefighters stayed on the scene until about 8:30 p.m.
