Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze at a south Morgan Hill home that apparently started from a meal left on the stove. No injuries were reported.

The South County Fire Department arrived at Silver Cloud Court about 1:48 p.m. Thursday, according to battalion chief Mike Van Loben Sels.

The family of three who live in the house were at home at the time. Jodie Cleaver said she left her lunch burning on the stove, though the cause is under investigation.

The residents were waiting outside a neighbor’s home for firefighters to clear the home and ensure the fire was completely out, and whether or not it caused major structural weaknesses.

No damage was visible on the outside of the home. Gary Cleaver, who lives at the home with his wife, son and the family dog, said he thought the kitchen suffered the most damage from the blaze.

“I’m thankful everybody’s OK,” Cleaver said.

Van Loben Sels said when fire engines arrived, flames were shooting about of a vent in the roof, about 10 feet into the air. Smoke was coming out of the eaves in the home’s attic.
