Dear Editor,

Often we only hear the worst about middle school kids. I am lucky enough to see so much good every day that I teach at Britton Middle School. Most of my students are hardworking, generous and kind.

When the students at Britton heard about the tsunami in South Asia, they felt the need to help. Everyday for three weeks kids gave money at brunch and lunch. Students went home and asked families and neighbors to help. Some students could only give a quarter or a nickel at a time but every little bit helped. We reached our goal of $2,000 and will be sending a check to UNICEF. UNICEF was chosen because they have a good track record of getting help where it is needed and focuses on children.

The No Limits Dance Team and the Recycling Club voted to donate money from their campus clubs.
