It was a learning experience for the Live Oak High wrestling team during a 60-12 Tri-County Athletic League dual meet loss to visiting Hollister-San Benito on Wednesday night.

The highlight of the evening for Live Oak was senior Heavyweight Mike Gamez’s thrilling victory. Gamez trailed Hollister senior Tito Flores, the defending league champion, 4-0 in the early going before rallying to tie the match. Flores took a one-point lead in the final period but Gamez pulled off a takedown as time expired for the 6-5 victory. Gamez is one of the favorites to qualify for the Central Coast Section postseason meet.
