The 4th of July festivities are one of my favorite events in Morgan Hill. The sense of family and community ring clear and are reminiscent of my childhood. This year was no exception but the sense of community was more personal to our family.

To make a long story short, while walking with my 2-year-old granddaughter to meet her mother, who was quite a distance away she called and cried for her. Not a pretty sight. As we walked we were approached by a Morgan Hill policeman, asking she and I if everything was all right. I explained the situation and as we walked to meet my daughter, concerned and protective eyes followed until we all met.

At first I was bit upset to be stopped and questioned but am very grateful for the concern. Thank you Morgan Hill Police Department for caring about the safety of my granddaughter and for all children in our community.

This was a wonderfully safe 4th of July for us.
