Morgan Hill is a cleaner – and safer – place to live, thanks to you and the many others who this weekend volunteered for local activities during Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup.
Known as the nation’s largest annual community improvement program, the Great American Cleanup(tm) is Keep America Beautiful in action. As Keep America Beautiful celebrates its 50th anniversary of improving communities nationwide this year, I’m especially proud to report these accomplishments of our 2003 Great American Cleanup.
Talk about strength in numbers. A total of 2.3 million Americans logged more than 7 million hours to improve communities from coast to coast. Some of your results include:
• 148 million pounds of litter and debris collected
• 918,000 tires collected for recycling
• 148,000 acres of parks cleaned
• 95,000 miles of roads, streets and highways cleaned
• 3,500 illegal dumpsites cleaned
• More than 1 million flowers, bulbs and trees planted
We could not have accomplished these incredible feats without Morgan Hill’s wonderful volunteers. Keep America Beautiful, a national nonprofit public education and community improvement organization with more than 530 affiliate offices, works year-round to provide sustainable solutions to communities.
