As chairman of the South Valley Wine Auction, I’m invited the community to attend the South Valley Wine Auction happening at 7 tonight at the Community and Cultural Center.
This event originated to support sagging Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Live Oak High School five years ago. Teams were down and out. We also knew that many kids at Live Oak were not big or tall or had specific skills to join such teams requiring such skills. Cross Country and Track & Field Programs are one of the few sports that do not cut anyone. They offer equal opportunity to both boys and girls, and they always compete side by side at the same meet building school spirit by the tons. These sports are now on the rise thanks to your support.
Many kids at Live Oak do not have any other means of rounding out their college résumé’s need for an athletic side except through these two sports programs. The only two kids we know getting acceptance to MIT, fulfilled their athletic side through Cross Country or Track. These sports are proven training grounds for all the other sports. They add to a positive image of our youth and your community.
For those non-wine bidders we have nine restaurants providing food to go with 10 local and regional wineries. We also have bid items from Nordic Track, Noritake, Mikasa, facials, drawing lessons, Golds Gym, messages, dining experiences at Clos LaChance and a Tuscan dinner, plus golfing packages from Monterey’s Laguna Seca & Corral de Tierra Country Clubs, Ridgemark, San Juan Oaks, Coyote Creek, Night’s stay at CordeValle, footballs signed by our two local “Jeffs”, (Garcia and Ulbrich) and much more.
Wine wise we have many unique winery tours including the impossible to get Gallo Sonoma VIP Tour in Healdsburg, Tour for 30 at Byington Vintners in Saratoga, local winery tours, large bottle formats including magnum signed and dated by Robert Mondavi, a 5 liter Carneros Pinot Noir by Mondavi, 3 liter Santa Clara Valley Cab by Guglielmo, an upside down label bottle by Bargetto (mistakenly done), “Big Bertha” a 9 Liter bottle of Mumm’s Champagne, and many many more interesting items.
The dress code for this event is Morgan Hill dressy sports (clean jeans and a fresh shirt). Donation is $35. All such donation bids will make it possible for these wonderful all inclusive sports to continue. Funds also help make the all weather track at Live Oak available to those in the community who want a nice comfortable and kind-to-the-knees surface to walk or jog.
Tickets will be sold at the door. Be there. Face it, what else is happening in Morgan Hill Today!
