Dear Editor,
Ducks at the Community Park are not being cared for. I have three good reasons to convince you to take better care of them. First of all, ducks have dirty water. They’re being injured and sometimes even killed and there are no homes for baby ducklings. Dirty water, being injured, and having no homes for babies are all important to ducks because they can’t live without them.
The pond at the Community Park is disgusting. Ducks swim in dirty water and sleep there too; yuck. Ducks swimming in dirty water is like pigs rolling around in the mud. Why can’t the people at the Community Park at least clean up the pond once or twice every two weeks? Ducks are usually injured in two different ways; road kill and disease. I saw a duck that was killed in the middle of the street with blood surrounding it. Ducks are being injured like Humpty Dumpty fell off a wall and cracked in a flash. Would you like to die by road kill? I bet not.
Female ducks don’t have homes for their babies. Having no homes for babies is like having no food for people. Don’t female ducks need homes for babies too? I saw a baby duckling at my apartment and it didn’t know where to go. I tried to catch it, but it kept running away from me.
Ducks are important to us because they provide us meat and eggs. People can use their feathers to stuff pillows and quilts. They eat crabs, sea snails, shrimp and some seaweed.
I hope that these facts and my reasons have convinced you to take better care of the ducks at Community Park. I look forward to seeing the ducks at the Community Park being better cared for. I hope to never see another dead duck lying on the street.
