Arts Council Silicon Valley has announced more than $362,000 in grants will be awarded to 102 arts and cultural organizations presenting theater, dance, music and literary art forms throughout Santa Clara County.

In Morgan Hill, the South Valley Youth Orchestra received $1,869 to train young musicians and present a December concert at Gilroy High School Theater.

Art4Service, of Gilroy, received $2,084 to support a mural project that will be a collaboration between an elementary school and a high school in Gilroy and South Valley Symphony, of Gilroy, receive $2,269 for a performance of the opera “Amahl” and the “Night Visitors” in collaboration with Mission City Opera and Winchester Orchestra.

Theatre Angels Art League, also of Gilroy, received $2,108 to launch a series of outdoor summer concerts in partnership with the Gilroy Downtown Business Association.

Fifty nine community-based, volunteer-driven, small-budget arts groups received the $4,000 grants through the Arts Council’s Community Arts Fund. The groups participate in activities reflective of the multicultural region, including the San Jose Jewish Film Festival, Chinese Orchestra of North America and South Valley Symphony. To date, the Arts Council has distributed nearly $1.6 million throughout the program’s history.

“The arts and cultural organizations funded by the Arts Council are truly a reflection of the unique and diverse region we call home,” said Diem Jones, Arts Council Silicon Valley’s director of programs. “I feel honored that we can play a role in ensuring these organizations continue to inspire and nurture this valley’s creative spirit.”
