Live Oak senior Ruben Magana played well defensively for the South Valley Bucks on Friday.

South Valley Rugby notched its third consecutive win, soundly defeating first-year club Los Gatos 30-7 in a nonleague match Friday at the Outdoor Sports Center.

Playing in heavy rain, misplayed kicks and dropped passes were prevalent for both sides. In spite of the inclement weather, the Bucks dominated play in terms of possession and territory.

South Valley built a 15-0 lead in the first half on tries by Live Oak junior wing Austin David, Sobrato junior lock Vince Fanua and Valley Christian senior fullback Cameron Weirshauser. None of the scores were converted.

The second half was much of the same, with South Valley scoring three more tries, one each by a trio of Live Oak players – senior prop Kailo Wilson, junior lock Benno Strobl and David.

Los Gatos avoided a shutout by scoring a second-half try and making the conversion.

Playing well defensively for the Bucks were Live Oak seniors Ruben Magana, Andrew Daggett, and Sobrato senior Joe Ferrero.

South Valley resumes Bay-South play March 31 against Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale.
