Attention, locavores:

District 1 Supervisor Mike Wasserman is hosting a photo contest that allows Santa Clara County residents to showcase their local farmers’ market. For South County shoppers who pick up their weekly groceries at the Gilroy or Morgan Hill farmers’ markets, it’s a fun way to support your local farmers, florists, apiarists, bakers and artists who sell their goods at the market each week.

The contest encourages participants to “get moving, get creative, and show us your images of colorful fruits and vegetables, flowers, baked goods, handmade items and other fun shots.”

The deadline to submit photos is Aug. 1, 2012. Pictures should be emailed to El***************@bo*.org along with your name, address and the name of the farmers’ market where the photo was taken.

For more information about the contest, visit www.supervisor.wasserman.org.

The Gilroy Farmers’ Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through Oct. 28 on the corner of Monterey and Seventh streets in Gilroy.

The Morgan Hill Farmers’ Market takes place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays at 170 Cochrane Plaza.
