Students Say ’Thank You’ to Firefighters

Jackson Elementary School students watched for more than a week as firefighters went up and down East Dunne Avenue in their big fire rigs, bulldozers and tankers to fight the Lick fire in Henry W. Coe State Park.

On Sept. 6, students in Sally Pollard’s kindergarten class and Stephanie Anderson’s third-grade class created a thank-you sign to show their appreciation for the hard work of all involved in fighting the blaze.

They displayed the sign near the Dunne Hill Fire Station, a stopping point for firefighters before moving on to the base camp at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy.
